Gospel Read Thru, Luke 19-21

PumpkinGarlandWelcome to Gospel Read Thru In October!  We are reading through all four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John from October 1st to the 31st.  If you are not familiar with the details of this Gospel Read Thru, but would like to join us, please go to Gospel Read Thru Details and print out the Schedule. Once you have completed the reading for October 23, you may like to return here to answer the following questions.  Please keep in mind, these questions are totally optional.

autumflowers-Luke 19-21 Questions-

1. Take a moment to re-read Luke 18:18-23 and Luke 19:2-9.  What is the same about these two men and what makes them different from each other?
2. What do you think about the parable in Luke 19:11-27?

3. Who do you think the the man, the vine-growers, the three slaves, and the son represent in the Parable of the Vine-growers in Luke 20:9-16?

Did you know?
In 70 A.D. the beautiful temple (known during the time of Luke as Herod’s Temple), was destroyed by Titus of Rome.  It was the last temple built in Jerusalem.  Re-read Luke 21:5-6 – Jesus’ prophesy here has come to pass and we can believe all He says is true.

If you want to take time to go a little deeper with your reading today, read Luke 21 and then Matthew 24, and ask yourself as you go along if they are speaking of the same things, and the same time.

*Remember to always stay within the context of what is being said and support your answer with Scripture.

These are just very simple questions, but you can take it a step further and ask yourself what is happening in each chapter.  As there is a change of subject, mark it in the margin of your Bible.

Ask yourself:  Who is the author speaking to or about?  Who is Jesus speaking to?  What is going on?  When is it taking place?  Where are they located?  Why is Jesus saying what He is saying or Why are the Pharisees saying what they are saying?  How are the people responding to Jesus?  Are there any prophesies about Jesus?  Are they being fulfilled?
