I have been meditating on the incarnation of Jesus Christ today.
While God the Son, Jesus Christ, was here on this earth He revealed God the Father to us. In John 14:9,
Jesus said to him,
“Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip?
He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say,
‘Show us the Father ‘?”
But Jesus also revealed us to us. Hebrews 2:14-18 says,
since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same,
that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death,
that is, the devil,
and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.
For assuredly He does not give help to angels,
but He gives help to the descendant of Abraham.
He had to be made like His brethren in all things,
so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God,
to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered,
He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.
Have you ever thought about the fact that Jesus was the perfect representation of God and of us? He was the God-man and He had to be in order to reconcile us back to God… I think this is incomprehensible! Yet, it’s true – WOW!
Through sin we have been blinded to the worth of God – Through sin we have been blinded to the worthlessness of our self.
When we compare ourselves to Christ alone, we can see the depth of sin into which we have fallen.
When we compare ourselves to Christ alone, we can see the height of holiness to which we may rise.
You can read more along these lines in Chapter 9 of “Life On The Highest Plane” by Ruth Paxson. Every time I read through this book, I find myself pondering the amazing plan of Salvation by God on our behalf. It’s just crazy how much He loves us and shows us through His Son, Jesus Christ. I praise His Holy Name!
Please take time to leave a comment and tell me some things of God that you have been meditating on lately. 🙂
